Ordos: Wasted Talent?

Now I’ve been finished since Wednesday but if you think I’ve been laying around doing nothing, then you’d be wrong. I still have plenty of time to do that! I’ve sorted out that photo on the previous post which hadn’t shown up properly, and I’ve also added the link to the online travel magazine on the right hand side of my page, so you can always access it easily, haha!

Luke has been around again for a couple of weeks and he has been doing some drawings and painting with Wenzel in Location 1 to brighten the school up. We’ve got paintings in Location 2 but Location 1 was a bit bare. The guys did Sylvester and Tweety, Porky Pig and Donkey:

Bugs Bunny and Buzz Lightyear:

Kungfu Panda and numbers 1-9:

The alphabet and some fruit:

Luke had also drawn a leprechaun  but wanted a rainbow behind it, going around the pillar, so that was my job on Thursday. It took me ages, I had to do a white undercoat first, and I might have got a bit meticulous about measuring the lines, but I’m really happy with how it turned out. Going round and round the pillar did make me a little dizzy though!:

Also, Luke had sketched a number snake (11-20) and I went in on Friday to paint it. Again, I think my talents as an English teacher are severely wasted:

Needless to say, as I’m going to a new school, I’m going to ask Phil if we can do some painting. It’s not just about leaving your mark, but Location 1 now looks so much better with more colour and it’s educational for the students too! We’ve got one more thing to paint, a mural that Luke drew from the Jungle gym books, but we’ll do that after Spring Festival now.

It’s Saturday and it’s the first Saturday I haven’t worked in almost 5 months, crazy! Has been productive though. I took the dogs for a walk, cleaned the fridge and cupboards and made a vat of spag bol, which I’ve mostly frozen for meals over the next week or so, what with the whole of China practically shutting down for the next 4/5 days. I may be going to the wedding, still not sure, but I am planning on going to visit a couple of the CTs in their home town to make dumplings, so will let you know if that happens!
